A British dad and his son have been found dead at a flat in Bangladesh after a suspected poisoning.
Police discovered the rest of the family-of-five unconscious at the rented property in the city of Sylhet yesterday afternoon.
The father, who was in his 50s, has been identified as taxi driver Rofikul Islam, while the 16-year-old son has been named as Michael.
Wife Hosne Ara Islam, 40, their daughter Samira Islam, 19, and son Sadikul Islam, 21, are all being treated in a hospital in the eastern city.
One of the children who survived the alleged poisoning is understood to be in a critical condition.
The Islam family, from Cardiff, are British citizens and travelled to Bangladesh on July 12 and moved to the flat in the Tajpur area five days later, authorities said.
Osmani Nagar district superintendent told WalesOnline: ‘After discussing the overall situation with the doctors and inspecting the scene we believe this may have been a case of poisoning. The investigation is ongoing into whether it is poisoning or something else.’
Yesterday he told local media: ‘The other people in the building are close relatives of the victims. We questioned them.
‘At the moment we believe they fell asleep after dinner last night. This must be investigated further. How were they poisoned? How did they die? We will be able to confirm after an investigation.’
